NAMIB-NAUKLUFT
PARK (Incorporates SOSSUSVLEI)
Namibia’s most versatile conservation
area and major attraction. A vast wilderness of almost 50,000
km2. It contains the key features of Sossusvlei, Sesriem, the
Welwithschia Trail, Sandwich harbour, The Naukluft Mountains and
Kuiseb Canyon.
SOSSUSVLEI known for its monumentally
high dunes – one of the largest measured from the base to
be 325m high.
NAUKLUFT mountains, where you will
find Hartman’s Zebra, as well as massive and varied rock
formations, a geologist's paradise.
SANDWICH HARBOUR, the reed fringed
lagoon, situated 48km south of Walvis Bay, at the foot of towering
ivory coloured sand dunes. A place of legends and mystique.
NAMIB and KUISEB section are characteristic
of the desert plains.
Leopard and African wildcat and mountain Zebra and klipspringer
in the canyons, and on the plains, Gemsbok, larger and smaller
predators.

SOSSUSVLEI LODGES
LITTLE KULALA LODGE SOSSUSVLEI
Lodge is in a prime location on the western side of the Kulala
Wilderness reserve. It offers magnificent dunescenery to the west
and the rugged Namib mountain escarpment to the north and east
with grassy plains and 'fairy circles' in between. The camp has
eight thatched chalets on elevated decks, each unit with own private
bathroom and wrap-around verandah with a small plunge pool.
Guests can sleep out and star gaze on flat rooftop above the bathroom
Of the chalet. The main area has a lounge, dining room, bar, curio
shop and swimming pool. Activities are varied, including morning
guided drives to the dunes, nature drives and walk on the private
reserve, day trips to the Namib-Naukluft mountains. An additional
activitiy may be booked at extra cost - hot air ballooning.
KULALA DESERT LODGE SOSSUSVLEI
Located in 46 000 acres of private reserve, the lodge lies at
the heart of the Namib with magnificent dune views. Accommodation
is offered in twelve thatched and canvas chalets, each with private
en suite bathroom and shower. Each room is built on a wooden platform
allowing maximum air flow and mattresses can be placed on private
stargazing platforms on top of each room, for sleeping under the
stars.
The main lodge has a lounge, bar, dining area and plunge pool.
Activities offered are nature drives, night drives, birding, guided
walks, and at additional cost, hot air ballooning can be arranged.
KULALA TENTED CAMP SOSSUSVLEI
Also located on the private 46 000 acre private reserve, near
Sossusvlei. Built at the foot of a mountain, this camp is ideal
for guests on a self drive safari. The camp has six elevated meru
style tents with en suite bathrooms and linked to the main diningroom,
bar and swimming pool by pathways. A fully stocked bar is available
and traditional three-course meals are served at dinner. Game
is sparse, but fascinating and sightings of Springbok, Gemsbok,
Ostrich, Bat-eared Fox and Aardwolf is exciting in the rugged
conditions.
Activities include excursions to Sossusvlei, early morning ballooning
(at additional cost) guided walks, nature drives both day and
at night. Lodge also has a swimming pool and offers guided walks.
SOSSUSVLEI WILDERNESS CAMP
Located on the 46 000 acre private nature reserve with spectacular
desert scenery. Camp is built near the top of a mountain out of
brick, rock, timber and thatch. There are nine guest rooms, each
with private plunge pool and en-suite bathroom. The main living
area is under thatch with an outdoor deck for dinner under the
stars. Guests activities are nature drives, night drives, birding,
guided walks and at additional cost, hot air ballooning over the
Namib desert can be arranged.
NAMIBRAND LODGES
SOSSUSVLEI MOUNTAIN LODGE
Located at the northern edge of the NamibRand nature reserve,
in the foothills of the Nubib Mountains. NamibRand is a vast reserve
spanning over 200 000 ha of pristine desert. It is the world's
oldest desert and also known as "the living desert"
due to its intriguing array of desert - adapter fauna and flora.
Mountain lodge offers a highly sophisticated desert experience.
Accommodation consist of only ten stone and glass villas, scattered
along the edge of the mountains, overlooking the dunes - each
offering absolute privacy, with an expansive star-gazing skylight
over each bed..
The lodge features a sophisticated observatory, where field guides
share their knowledge with guests. Activities are game and nature
drives. Early morning hot air ballooning and scenic flights over
the desert can be arranged at additional cost.
THE WOLWEDANS CAMPS \ NAMIB RAND
WOLWEDANS DUNES LODGE
Dunes lodge aims at providing a unique experience close to nature
without compromising comfort and style. The entire lodge in constructed
on wooden platforms and overlooks panoramic vistas, capturing
the desert in a memorable way. The building style is a combination
of wooden poles and large canvas blinds\windows that open up to
the desert beyond. Each of the eight spacious en suite chalets
, as well as the four-bedded family chalet lead onto a private
verandah and stretches of untouched sand. The main complex - also
built on stilts, consist of bar and lounge, sundowner deck with
fireplace and dining room. A special attraction is the very spacious
and exclusive mountain view suite.
WOLWEDANS DUNE CAMP
Located on the very edge of a 250-metre high dune, this camp overlooks
the prominent Losberg Mountain towards the east.
A five minute walk to the west, the Chateau viewpoint- one of
the reserves most enchanting panoramas- is reached. Camps accommodate
a maximum of twelve guests in comfortable tents, pitched on wooden
platforms, furnished with standard bedside tables and suitcase
rack. Each tent has a spacious verandah and private bathroom with
shower, basin and toilet. The lounge dining area and open-plan
kitchen allows guests to chat to their chef whilst meals are being
prepared. A sundowner deck with fireplace allows brilliant stargazing.
Camp suitable for more adventurous travellers.
WOLWEDANS PRIVATE CAMP
Located in the quiet seclusion of a valley, this splendid suite,
catering for four guests only is the perfect getaway for honeymooners
or individuals seeking uncompromising privacy and solitude.
Emphasis is on relaxation, browsing through the library, taking
walks in the plains and enjoying private meals. It is recommended
to stay for a night at the lodge, prior to transferring to private
camp for total seclusion. The suite comprises of two spacious
bedrooms with en suite bathroom, verandah and reception area,
consisting of a lounge, dining area and kitchen.
ACTIVITIES AT WOLWEDANS COLLECTION
These are many and varied. Accompanied by experienced guides visitors
are introduced to many facets of the NamibRand Nature Reserve's
desert habitat - it's diverse fauna and flora- on foot, by vehicle,
or from hot-air balloon. Scenic drives are by open land rovers
and walks are accompanied with resident field guides. Also offered
are picnics in the wild, sundowners on the dunes and dinners by
candlelight. The hot-air balloon excursions are from Camp Mwisho,
located about 30km north of Wolwedans.
